Saying our vows in the hallowed ruins of St. Phillips Church in front of our loved ones is a memory I will cherish forever. Our day was clear and beautiful, truly the perfect date. I designed our wedding mostly around the romantic and earthy feel of the ruins. Pulling in the warm and cool colors from the brick and Spanish moss, and the perfectly imperfect centuries old brick structure. Dark stained wood chairs and loosely gathered greenery were the perfect accents to the already stunning venue.
After taking our formal portraits in Southport at the Cape Fear House, the bridal party and all of their dates hopped on a trolley to the historic site. The quiet time sitting in the back of the trolley while each of my girls gradually filed out, was the moment that I truly felt ALL of the emotions. I was about to marry the man I have loved since were were just kids in high school. Standing with my dad at the back of the church looking down that asile as my mom was first to stand, those seconds were some of the most memorable to me — walk slow and take it all in.
The sweet little girl my mom has watched since she was just three months old, Harper, made sure to throw her flower petals as high and far as possible. Love this little one.
My groom who NEVER cries thought that since he cried at our first look he would be able to make it through the ceremony… Needless to say, watching his face crumble as I walked toward him with my dad was enough to make me tear up as well.
Caswell was a trooper through the day and decided that during the ceremony my dress was the best napping place. 🙂
We chose to take communion together as our first act as husband and wife. The table was my late Grandmom & Granddad Jones’ draped in a beautiful Tono+Co cloth with homemade bread by my mom. While we shared communion, our guests sang Come Thou Fount led by my Gary Lee, Dawn and Kathleen from the Jones side from Methodist Hymnals.
